Share Market LIVE: Sensex extends losses, down 550 pts, Nifty hovers around 16200; RIL down 2.5%

Share market news today | Sensex, Nifty, LIVE Stock Quotes: Domestic stock markets opened with losses on Monday morning as the bears continued to dominate. The S&P BSE Sensex lost more than 500 points or 1% after falling 800 points in the first few minutes of trading to hit a low of 53,918. NSE Nifty 50 hit a low of 16,142 before rising above above 16,200, but was still down more than 1%. Bank Nifty fell 1.6%, while India VIX climbed 3.5% to almost 22 levels. Broader markets reflected the fall. HCL Tech was the top gainer on Sensex, up 1.46%, followed by Infosys. Bajaj Auto, Power Grid, Bajaj Finserv and Ultratech Cement. IndusInd Bank lagged the most, down 2.85%, accompanied by Tech Mahindra, Reliance Industries and Tata Steel.

The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) IPO has so far drawn 1.79 subscriptions with investors allowed to bid for the issue even on weekends. Going into the last day of the subscription period, LIC IPO has collected bids for 29.08 crores of shares against 16.20 crores that are on offer. All investor categories were oversubscribed except for Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB), who offered 0.67 times their reserved share. NII’s underwriting is 1.24 times and retail investors’ underwriting is 1.59 times. LIC employees subscribed their share 3.79 times and policyholders subscribed 5.04 times.
